Finding Space Using Space Saver Bags

by blogger

Need more space? Who doesn’t? We live in a crowded world. Storage units in the thousands make bundles off of us. Ok, so maybe my suggestion will not save us from needing all kinds of space for all of our worldly possessions, but it might help you make some space out around the house.

During spring cleaning do you find yourself trying to cram your skis, winter jackets, heavy Christmas sweaters and bulky blankets away to make way for the sunshine and heat of summer? Many of us do. Not to mention women turning over the wardrobe from season to season. Alternative hot weather wear and cool weather wear can be quite a task when it comes to finding good safe spots to let your things lay for the next half-year or so. Cardboard boxes are common because they are so cheap, but they run the risk of letting in moisture in the basement, or mice in the garage, or lets face it ugly awkward space!

Vacuum storage bags are a definite solution to space saving dilemmas. These cost effective tools require nothing more than a household vacuum to start the space saving process. The steps are simple too; load up a vacuum seal bag with things that you want to store away for a season, attach a vacuum nozzle to the air tight seal, and vacuum out the air by turning on your vacuum. Once you see that all the air has been sucked out you will immediately notice how compact, convenient, and concise your bulky sweaters, extra towels, duvets, blankets, pillows, jackets have become.

In fact vacuum storage bags can give you up 66% more storage space. Basically that means you get two thirds more storage space. Instead of having to cram every closet in your house you can conveniently stack and pack one closet or area. Vacuum sealed bags are also air tight, moisture proof, as well as water proof. As damp as those basements that we love to store things in get with space saver bags you know that your stored items will be safe from any water or moisture damage. And since they are air tight this also means your sweaters won’t come out smelling moldy when autumn and winter start to come around.

In this crowded world we live in it is nice to know that there is something out there that can help us clear up some of that clutter and make some much needed space.

Making Space Using Space Saver Bags

by blogger

I never thought that vacuum storage bags would really be practical, effected, or even useful. I always thought it was just another gimmick until I decided to move overseas for eight and a half months! A time period that is short enough to almost be considered a vacation but long enough for someone to feel moved. I knew I did not want to have to ship anything over so I decided, like any good traveller, to attempt to pack everything I might need, want, and own into the two allowed suitcases that I planned to check through the flight.

After trying for several hours to roll, flatten, stuff, cram, and pack the belongings I knew I could not live without into my two suitcases I finally realized no amount of stuffing was going to make all the things I needed to fit. That is when I remembered reading about vacuum sealed bags and I thought “what the heck, better try them, I have no other options”. I was worried that I would need to buy an expensive high tech device to suck the air out but to my surprise any household vacuum would do the trick. I was also concerned that the bags would be heavy and weigh down my suitcases but they were not! Which was a huge relief!

I headed back home to my overspilling suitcases and began to fill one of the bags with a few sweaters and shirts. As I began to vacuum seal the bag I realized I had clearly put too few clothes in there! Thankfully they are reusable! So I unsealed it added a few more sweaters and vacuum sealed it up again. I was amazed how tight and small the space saver bags became! By the time I had finished with my two suitcases I realized I had actually almost two thirds more space left in my bags! I could not believe it! I then realized I now had space to fit a few things I thought I would not be able to fit and I also realized I had made space for some souvenirs and items I might buy and want to bring back from my travels (which I did!)

Not only did I make over 60% more space I also noticed that these vacuum storage bags are air tight, moisture AND water proof! After returning from my travels I immediately rushed out to get more vacuum sealed bags to start organizing the rest of my house!
